-Different sound terms:
Diegetic and non diegetic - sound in films are termed diegetic if it is part of the narrative sphere of the film. External sound = non diegetic, internal sound = diegtic.
^ etc. Voiceover and soundtrack.
^ aka off camera commentary.
Symbolic sound - adds to the narrative.
Direct sound - recording sound at the same time as the image.
Looping - an actors voice snycing with lip movements which are not the original sound.
Dubbing - when you turn one language into another.
Bridge - a passage linking two scenes either by connecting music across the transition or by beginning the sound of the next scene over images of the previous scene.
Wild sound - separate from the images.
Sound motif. - a sound effect or combination of sound effects that are associated with a particular character, setting, situation, idea through the film.
Soundtrack dialogue, musical score, narration, and sound effects.
- In our first session we went out with the sennheiser K6 and marantz to record sounds around campus. This was a good introduction to the
equipment as we could go back to class if we had any problems with it. We recorded cars, footsteps,
tree rustles, wind and people talking. When we got back to the class room we renamed all the clips
appropriately and got rid of all the ones we didn't need.

- Horror sounds can be interesting as you can use anything and everything to create simple sounds. Also when putting them into Audition you can mix and twist them to sound creepy and ghostly.
